Murray’s Monument located in the Galloway Forest Park near Newton Stewart, Southwest Scotland. It was erected in 1835 in memory of Alexander Murray, a shepherd boy who was born nearby and later became Professor of Oriental Languages at Edinburgh University.. A short but steep climb up the path to it offers superb views of the surrounding countryside.
